Career & Higher Education Advice with Capital Tuition Group

As recently as a decade or two ago, a career was something that many people simply fell into. There were always outliers – some would choose a future career path while young and apply laser focus to breaking into their industry of choice. More often, though, people would find a job after school, college or university and work their way up the corporate ladder with the same employer throughout the years.

Now, the world has changed. This is partly due to natural evolution and partly through external circumstances such as COVID. The idea of a 'job for life' is rapidly becoming a myth. Many people now change employers as frequently as every two years. On paper, this should be a good thing for graduates. The truth is, The Times Top 100 Graduate Employers have trimmed their incoming numbers by some 15%and applications are up over 40% on 2020.

It's important to note that this does not mean that all is lost. There are still opportunities out there for new graduates, including the Class of 2021. Moreover, graduates can still expect to earn a premium on their salarybased on expertise gained during their education. As the entry level job market only becomes more competitive, securing a top graduate role will only arise with careful, selective planning.

This is where careers guidance comes into play for students of all ages, whether still in secondary school or approaching university graduation. Careers guidance enables young adults to start planning for their future and create their own luck.
